Choose the office by the record or custody system involved. Calling the jail is appropriate for a current county booking. A document request goes through the county's stated FOIA route, while court and state-prison records have different custodians.

The official Detention Center page publishes those information lines and public office hours. The Chester County Sheriff's Office uses the same street address and lists 803-581-5131, with 803-385-5433 for non-emergency calls.

Use the county FOIA form for an older record, copies, remote access, or detailed release fields. Name the Sheriff's Office or Detention Center as the responsible department. The form states a $15 minimum administrative charge plus actual calculated costs.

• For a named released person or release document, start with the home search and records path.
• For community supervision, use Probation & Parole and the Chester SCDPPPS office.
• For recent county releases, check Jail Releases: 24 Hours, then ask the Detention Center for the actual record.
• For a calculated date or alert, use Projected Release or VINELink Inmate Search.
• For a facility question, choose the county, SCDC, BOP, or immigration custody page listed below.
• For a sentenced state prisoner, use SCDC. For a federal or immigration detainee, use the BOP or ICE locator and proper federal custodian.
